Crochet Star Pattern and DIY Pine Cone Christmas Tree!


Hello! Christmas is almost here and Isaac is out of school for Christmas vacation! So, what better to do than a crafty project? Since I love pine cones, we decided to make some pine cone Christmas trees. Scroll down for the written instructions and the video tutorial for the pine cone Christmas Tree and for the free little crochet star pattern.


We had a lot of fun making our trees and the video, there is even a blooper reel! lol







Little Crochet Star

Materials

F (3.75 mm) hook
Yarn
Scissors
Darning needle

Size

With F hook and Red Heart With Love Yarn, my star is: 2 inches tall
With F hook and Caron Simply Soft Party Yarn, my star is: 1.5 inches tall

Abbreviations

ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
sk: skip

The Pattern

R1: Make a loose slip knot or a magic circle and ch 1. (ch 1 does not count as a sc) Put 15 sc into the loose slip knot or the magic circle. Sl st to the first sc of the round. Pull the tail end to close the hole. =15

R2: *ch 4, sc in the 3rd ch from the hook, hdc in the next ch, sk the next 2 stitches from round 1 and sl st into the 3rd stitch. Repeat from the star 4 more times. Sl st to finish.
Cut the yarn and weave in the ends. 
*For the tree topper: make 2 and sew them together.



Pine Cone Christmas Tree

Materials

Pine Cones
Rhinestones
Crochet Star or other tree topper
Hot glue
Hot glue gun
Green paint or preferred color
Paint brush

Written Instructions

1. Pick out some pine cones. Make sure they will stand upright and are free of cobwebs, dirt, etc

2. Paint the pine cones with green paint. Or if you prefer a different color, use that color instead! 

3. Let the paint dry.

4. Use hot glue to embellish the pine cones with rhinestones, glitter or other decorations. 

5. Glue on the tree topper and your finished!
