- crochet hook (I used size H or 5.0mm)

This pattern is worked in a continuous spiral using a stitch marker.

The Pattern

Mushroom Top:

To begin the Mushroom top, start with your main color. I used red.

r1: Make a loose slip knot, and chain 1. Now put 5 sc into the slip knot. Add your stitch marker. =5
r2: sc in each stitch around =5
r3: 2sc in each stitch around =10
r4: sc in each stitch around =10
r5: *2sc in the first stitch, sc in the next stitch* repeat around =15
r6: *2sc in the first stitch, sc in the next 2 stitches* repeat around =20
r7: *2sc in the first stitch, sc in the next 3 stitches* repeat around =25
r8: *2sc in the first stitch, sc in the next 4 stitches* repeat around =30
r9: sc in each stitch around =30
r10: sc in each stitch around until you get to the last stitch of the round. In the last stich, instead of doing a single crochet, slip stitch in your cc.(check out the how to section if you need help) This is for the underside of the mushroom top. I used white. =30
*This is a good point to weave in tails, turn right side out, and stuff.
r11: BLO *sc2tog, sc in the next 3 stitches* repeat around =24
*for the sc2tog I recommend using the invisible decrease method, directions are in the how to section. It says to use FLO but to make the ridge here you need to use BLO for this round)
r12: *sc2tog, sc in the next 2 stitches* repeat around =18
*now you can use the FLO method for the invisible decrease for the rest of the pattern
r13: *sc2tog, sc in the next stitch* repeat around =12
r14: *sc2tog* repeat around =6
Cut your yarn, finishing stuffing if needed, and weave in your tail.
Mushroom Stem:

To start use your 2nd CC, I used tan.

r1: Make a loose slip knot, ch 1 and put 6 sc into the slip knot. =6
r2: 2sc in each stitch around =12
r3: *2sc in the first stitch, sc in the next stitch* repeat around =18
r4: *2sc in the first stitch, sc in the next 2 stitches* repeat around =24
r5: sc around =24
r6: sc around =24
r7: sc around =24
r8: sc around =24
r9: *sc2tog, sc in the next 2 stitches* repeat around =18
*This is a good point to weave in tails, turn right side out, add safety eyes and stuff.
r10: *sc2tog, sc in the next stitch* repeat around =12
r11: *sc2tog* repeat around =6
Cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to sew to the mushroom top. Finish stuffing if needed.
Spots:
Use CC yarn. I used white.
Spot 1:
r1: Make a loose slip knot, ch 1 and put 4 sc into the slip knot. Slip stitch to first sc. =4
Cut yarn leaving a long enough tail to sew to the mushroom top. Weave in the other tail.
Spot 2:
r1: Make a loose slip knot, ch 1 and put 8 sc into the slip knot. Slip stitch to first sc. =8
Cut yarn leaving a long enough tail to sew to the mushroom top. Weave in the other tail.
Spot 3:
r1: Make a loose slip knot, ch 1 and put 6 sc into the slip knot. =6
r2: 2sc in each stitch around =12
Cut yarn leaving a long enough tail to sew to the mushroom top. Weave in the other tail.
Assembly:
1. Sew the spots to the mushroom top wherever you would like.
2. Sew the stem to the mushroom top. (it will look elongated and funny) Do not cut the yarn.

3. Before cutting the yarn that was used to sew the mushroom stem to the top, use that same yarn to thread up under one of your spots, pull snug, and then thread the yarn back under the spot and out the bottom of the stem. Pull tight till the top of the mushroom comes down over the stem and looks right.

The End!
